The University of Medical Sciences and Technology (UMST) was established in 1996 in Khartoum, Sudan. What began with just 60 students has grown into a prestigious institution serving over 7,000 students across 17 faculties.

Today, we stand as a leading medical sciences university with over 7,000 students enrolled in 17 different faculties, offering comprehensive education in healthcare and medical sciences.
International Recognition
UMST is recognized by major international medical and educational bodies including the World Health Organization (WHO), the General Medical Council (UK), and the General Dental Council (UK). Our graduates work in 14+ countries including the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, and Germany.
GO AFRICA Initiative
In line with our commitment to expanding access to quality medical education, UMST has launched the "GO AFRICA" initiative with a new campus in Kigali, Rwanda. This cross-border education initiative supports Sudanese students during challenging times and promotes multicultural campus environments.

Our History
Founded in 1996 in Khartoum, Sudan, the University of Medical Sciences and Technology (UMST) began with a modest campus and two pioneering faculties—Medicine and Medical Laboratory Technology. Starting with only 60 students, the aim was to close the existing gaps between public and private university education.
Over the years, UMST has evolved into a prestigious institution known for its commitment to academic excellence, vibrant research culture, and impactful social contributions. By 2021, it supported 17 faculties, welcomed over 7,000 students, and offered more than 27 postgraduate programs across fields such as medical sciences, engineering, and the humanities.
