The Faculty of Medicine at UMST offers a comprehensive 5-year program designed to produce competent medical professionals equipped to meet global healthcare challenges.
Program Structure
Our medical program is structured in three phases:
Phase I: Basic Medical Sciences
Foundational knowledge in anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, pathology, and pharmacology. Students develop a strong understanding of the human body and disease mechanisms.
Phase II: Clinical Sciences
Introduction to clinical medicine with focus on internal medicine, surgery, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, and other major specialties.
Phase III: Clinical Rotations
Hands-on clinical experience across 6 major teaching hospitals. Students rotate through various departments gaining practical skills in real healthcare settings.
Clinical Training
Students gain extensive clinical experience through rotations at:
- UMST Teaching Hospital
- Khartoum Teaching Hospital
- Omdurman Teaching Hospital
- Bahri Teaching Hospital
- Ibrahim Malik Teaching Hospital
- Specialized private hospitals
